The Velveteen Valley Cabaret Highlights

From outrageous cabaret to comedic mayhem, this stage, like no other, will keep you wildly entertained for hours. Known for its naughtiness, dreamy dancing and hilarity, the Velveteen Valley’s 2017 line up promises to bring you just that.

Bringing the first lot of outrageous cabaret for the weekend, is Jolene Dover. A cabaret star for nine years, Jolene will be your Saturday night host and is set to be the star of the stage for one night only, right here at Nozstock. Ursula Dares will be bringing more cabaret in her form of a creative, theatrical and comedic approach, an experience not to be missed. The Glitter Kittens, too, will be performing their eclectic mix of traditional cabaret combined with alternative burlesque and circus.

If burlesque is what you’re after, then Jewel Personality and Flossie Smalls will be gracing the stage. Jewel Personality, an exciting, up and coming performer, will be performing a funny and cheeky burlesque set. While Flossie will be performing her popular, sweet and saucy routine ‘Cool Cat in Town’.

On Friday night Alistair Aitcheson’s Incredible Playable Show, will be inviting spectators onto the stage to become players for the night, where they must interact with each other and the audience to progress. A unique show, which takes games of his invention into the real world. Backyard Bingo, will be reinventing bingo as you know it, think unique, comedic entertainment and brilliant prizes, for this show.

Jackie Clementines, will be performing his new show, ‘Fool Bodied’, intertwining a mix of juggling, acrobatics and danger. And Jessticular Dancer and Her Highness will be performing a mix of street dance, pole, blues, burlesque and circus for an enticing performance for the senses.

Join us, one and all, in the Velveteen Valley for the quirkiest and naughtiest of line ups.

Charity Begins at Noz

Down on the farm we like to make sure that we give something back to our lovely community and help some great causes at the same time. This year we are supporting some great causes, so, if you need a break from the festival buzz here’s what you can do…

Watch and enjoy the performing artists supported by the Herefordshire community music charity Music Pool on The Bandstand.

The Music Pool’s work benefits a wide range of people of absolutely all ages, abilities and backgrounds; the youth music project Livewire provides workshops, helps to promote gigs and supports training opportunities, courses and recording sessions for young people in the Herefordshire area. Project manager Nicky Jaques has said “Performing at Nozstock provides the opportunity for young people to play to a festival audience and to soak up the sounds of the other bands and artists. They gain exposure to new music which will inspire them to keep developing their own sound and the whole experience gives them a massive confidence boost as young musicians.” Great stuff.

You could come try your luck on our Human Fruit Machine….!

What is this wondrous idea you speak off? The Human Fruit Machine is quite literally what it says on the tin – A. Human. Fruit. Machine. With 50% of the profits going to good causes what’s not to love? It’s part of Nozstock’s charm, we have something refreshingly different to do around every corner.

Sad and lonely old tent? No problem! Unfortunately we all know that tents and camping equipment get left behind at festivals…but fear not – you can donate your unloved camping equipment and tents to People in Motion. Focused on providing support and aid to displaced people your unwanted tents will be packed up and sent to help the refugee crisis in Europe and the Middle East. Woo!

We are also supporting Trees for Cities again this year. They are the only charity who work on an international scale to create greener cities, raising awareness of the importance of tree planting in urban areas. Trees for Cities focus on improving the lives of people living in cities as well as helping to inspire children to grow and eat healthily. Since 1993 they have engaged over 70,000 people to plant over 600,000 trees (that’s an average of 21,428 loo rolls worth per person). These trees were planted in parks, schools, housing estates and streets to revitalise these areas, improving the lives of local people who live there.

As part of our green initiative scheme American Rockers Hayseed Dixie will be helping plant a tree to our ever growing Celebritree Avenue, with help from Trees for Cities. The tree will accompany those planted by The Proclaimers, Molotov Jukebox, Henning When, Mr B. The Gentleman Rhymer and Electric Swing Circus. This gives you the chance to see your favourite artists supporting environmental awareness (and getting their hands dirty).

If you need to unwind after a long day ‘festivalling’ then you can head down to our Healing Zone for a treatment from Yeleni. The lovely Yeleni provide a place of peace for those having to deal with very difficult issues in their life, giving support and offering free therapy to people with chronic illnesses. They’ll be offering massages, hypnotherapy and various workshops to help your physical and emotional health. £10 of the money you pay for your treatment goes towards Yeleni’s charity work. By having a treatment you will help to deliver these therapy sessions to anyone with chronic illness and cancer around Herefordshire.

Each year the amazing Oxfam team provide some of our stewards who help keep you safe and secure on site.  The money raised from working with Nozstock goes towards helping people living in poverty around the world; it could buy 52 cows or 381 chickens for farmers, provide shelter and clean water for 32 Syrian refugee families or enable 247 young women to join schools in Ethiopia. Go us!

Three things we value really highly at Nozstock are creating a greener environment to live in, supporting all members of our wonderful community and having as much fun as possible. Getting involved with our charities and supporting causes does all of this so don’t miss out!

Find the perfect weekend home…

So the excitement has begun to set in the lead up to this year’s Nozstock, but is that dreaded thought of turning up on site and having to set up camp playing on your mind? Wouldn’t you rather dive straight into the arena and explore? Well we may have the solution…

14665667298_6e3bbd069c_oWe have again this year partnered with Yippee Yurts and Camplight to bring you two offerings to alleviate that pitching dread. So what are these two options I hear you say?

Well, if you are one for luxury and love the idea of coming back to rest your weary dancing feet in a beautiful bell tent village, then Yippee Yurts is the one for you. On offer are spacious cotton canvas bell tents ready assembled and waiting for you, simply furnished with scatter cushions, fleecy throws, and more standing room than you’ll know what to do with, these are ideal for escaping the stress of camping. If you really want to push the boat out you can also book an airbed with bed linen and a snuggly duvet! Also thrown into the deal is a luggage porter service and Yippee staff on site to look after you for the whole event! Sign up for your cosy camping experience here or email yippeeyurts@gmail.com  and choose what you want for your weekend home.

If you’re not one for glamping but the thought of battling with poles and pegs makes you shudder then Camplight offer just the thing for you. The team will pitch your tent and take it down again at the end of the festival. Yes, that’s right; your tent is pitched and ready to go when you get on site. Forget about the days of fighting your muddy tent back into a bag at the end of the festival whilst weeping at the thought of heading back to the real world. As well as taking the hassle out of your camping experience you have the added bonus of doing your bit to be green, as all the Camplight tents are handpicked from those abandoned at UK festivals, helping clear events and reducing waste.

If this all sounds like your ideal camping experience then hop online and book your spot in the Hidden Valley this year…
