Crew Profile- Kathy Tate, Green Queen

Kath TateWhat is your favourite festival item that you couldn’t live without?
My toolbox – the whole festival is held together by staples, cable ties and good will.

How often do you get to shower over Nozstock week?
Even though I helped run the showers last year, I still didn’t get time for a shower.

What are your top 3 tips for surviving a weekend of revelling in a field?
Drink Buckfast
Don’t camp next to an electric fence
Make sure you bring emergency bananas

Who out of the crew would you predict to make it to sock-wrestling champion for 2012 and why?
Rose Pearl – I have come to blows with her in the sock wrestling ring before, and I seriously underestimated my opponent.

When were you most starstruck at Nozstock?
When I was showing Russell Howard to his dressing room; I was really looking forward to meeting him, but all my wit deserted me and I’m not even sure if I said hello… I probably just pointed and grunted.

What are you most looking forward to at 2012’s festival?
Octo Pi – Nozstock’s resident DJ.  Correspondents (oh Mr Bruce!) and Camo and Krooked. Dr Meaker are also a massive favourite.

Tell us your most embarrassing or entertaining Nozstock story.
I jumped at the chance to be a ‘Techno Turban’ for the Nozstock Launch night without asking what was involved; I didn’t realise it would mean getting naked and painted gold in front of a room full of people I had never met before; whilst I was being painted up the song ‘Sexual Healing’ came on the radio…. luckily no-one can see you blush when you’re Gold!

Random interesting fact?
It takes a lot longer than you would think to get gold paint off your body.

Early Bird Tickets Sold Out Already!

It’s been fourteen glorious summers since the Noz family began their annual shindigs and now in 2012 the farm is hosting an established, leading family festival with top notch music, dazzling theatrics and tickling comedy in a delightfully intimate, utterly exciting and downright beautiful setting.

Now, the sun is barely shining and we know you summer-loving types are no doubt longing for fields, tents and cider, so we decided to get you one step closer to Nozstock 2012 and released a limited supply of early bird tickets at 10 am this morning. Incredibly these tickets were all gone by 5.30pm today  – some of you weren’t busy working at work, but were doing the sensible thing and planning your summers! We wanted to make sure some of our loyal fans and subscribers had a chance to get the early birds too so we released another batch of them and the last of these has just been snapped up. You guys are keen!

So the sad news is that we can’t afford to do any more early birds for you this time round, but luckily for you our advanced tickets are so cheap for nine venues of round-the-clock entertainment, of such astonishing quality, that we’re not feeling too guilty. Best get on it, before they all disappear people!

And we know you don’t want to miss out on that festival feeling; downing tools, leaving reality behind, forcing as much camping stuff as humanly possible (and then some) into a rucksack you definitely thought was bigger and making your way to a weekend of bliss.

But what would an early bird ticket announcement be without a line-up announcement to go hand in hand? It’s finally here folks and it’s one to get excited about. We’ve everything from Scottish folk-rockers The Proclaimers to jaw-breaking bass and beats in the form of Andy C & MC GQ. Not to mention theatrical wonders and workshops, prime-time comedians and mesmerising late night screenings of short films and music videos. There’s plenty of arty fun awaiting the mini-festivaler too so bring along the whole family. Check out the full line-up so far and grab your tickets here!

Tribe of Frog bring the Coppice back!

Tribe of Frog are well known for putting on one hell of a party. Psytrance die hards will be pleased to know they are back hosting the Coppice at Nozstock: the Hidden Valley this year. The Bristol based outfit first appeared at Nozstock in 2009 with great reviews, smashed it up in 2010 and now they are back for more neon warfare. For some selective beats and progressive sounds from the extensive library of electronica, get yourself down to see the headliner Oood, who’s name arose from a trippy revelation one day in conversation… “Out Of Our Depth” … the collective OOOD give you sounds by artists with a real philosophy. “Psychedelia means we’re continually taking in new influences from the wider world of music… I think that’s the key and that’s the beauty of psychedelic trance, you can put all these influences into it and it works.” Get your knees up and your glosticks out!

The line up for 2011 has just been released its gonna be a weekend to remember…

C.W. Stoneking to play the Orchard Stage…

If you’re craving music with a story, then you can’t miss C.W. Stoneking’s set on The Orchard Stage here at Nozstock: The Hidden Valley in just 25 days! Born in the Northern Territory of Australia, C.W learnt to play guitar aged 11, before dabbling with bands and later establishing his solo career as a singer-songwriter. Playing his calypso blues, C.W tells woeful stories of times past, such as when shipwrecked off the West-African coast whilst hunting for traditional Calypso music (as you do!). Stoneking’s most recent album ‘Jungle Blues’ won ‘Best Independent Blues/Roots Album’ at the AIR Awards in 2009. flyinshoes reviews says of Stoneking, ‘If you want your mind lifting out of its usual ruts, then C.W.’s the man for you. It’s mad, but lovably mad.’

The irresistible combination of his earthy, weathered voice, familiar, acoustic guitar and woeful melodies make C.W. Stoneking’s set here on the farm unmissable!
