We caught up with Adele, our info team queen, who spends her Nozstock weekend keeping you informed and ready for anything…

Describe yourself in three words (when you are in festival-mode!)…

Determined, Excited. Amazed.

Tell us about your best festival moment.

Highlights have been The Jim Jones Revue a couple of years ago on the Orchard Stage, The Keys on the Bandstand in 2014, and any time The Correspondents play!

Who would be your ultimate-beyond-ultimate dream headliner at Nozstock?

The Pixes and or PJ Harvey.

Do you have any pet peeves at festivals!?

I hate the long walk from your tent to the car in big festivals, especially when you are packing up and leaving!

What are your thoughts on the future of the festival industry?

Its really tough to be a successful festival, there are so many out there competing with each other. But everyone loves a good festival, so long may it continue!

Is Nozstock what you expected it to be after 17 years?

I haven’t been here since the very beginning, like some of the hard-core crew members! But I am very proud to be a part of it now. From being a punter to part of the crew, as the festival has grown, has made me feel like I am really part of something special.

When you’re not making Nozstock happen, what are you doing?

I live in London with my boyfriend, who is the Orchard Stage Manager. We are very lucky to live in London and have loads of music on our doorstep, which we are always exploring! And I work for a festival bar company so I know my way around a few now!

And finally, what three things are always in your Noz survival kit?

Coffee. My duvet. My team!

Struggling to find that last minute present?

Christmas early bird tickets are now on sale so get those frosty fingers tip-tapping on that keyboard and get your friend, relative, or lover the best present of the year.

Cabinet of Lost Secrets nominated in AIF’s Festival Congress Awards…

‘Come, relax in our den and let the animals who live inside entertain you.
If you dare to explore, they will show you the doors to your darker side……the freak show, a place of lost secrets where the animals party, inside their home where the things they find in time are collected and stored.’

Clik Clik Cabinet at Nozstock 2015 by Toni Charles

What can we say folks? We all know of your twisted love for the curious, weird and whacky and now so does the rest of the festival world! Our very own perpetrators of the illusive strangeness, Clik Clik Collective have been nominated for Unique Festival Arena by the Association of Independent Festivals. The Cabinet of Lost Secrets drew in the hoards with their underground lair of madness, animal residents and secret chambers of oddity. They delighted and dazzled with secret interactive performances, installations and artistic prowess. Hailed by reviewers as having “unprecedented madness” (Summer Festival Guide) tales of the Cabinet will live on through time for all those intergalactic warriors who discovered its treats…

Kate Cox, Clik Clik’s Director/Producer said “Influenced from many years of sniffing out weird and secret spaces, I’m thrilled that the Cabinet is nominated for this award.  A big ‘woop’ for the whole ‘Cabinet of Lost Secrets’ crew who gave everything to make it come to life!”

Keep your peepers peeled for the winners announcement at the Festival Congress Awards on the 5th November, and keep your fingers and paws crossed for the fantastic Clik Clik Collective.

DE LA SOUL TO REPLACE WU-TANG CLAN AFTER CANCELLATION OF EUROPEAN TOUR

It is with massive regret that we have to announce the cancellation of our Saturday night headliner, Wu-Tang Clan.

We’re really disappointed to drop this bombshell on everyone and suffice to say the crew here are seriously heartbroken that Wu can’t make it. For many of us it was going to be the highlight of our weekend and we are crestfallen that Wu-Tang Clan are going to be missing out on one of the best audiences they could ever wish for. You guys! We have received no specific reason for the cancellation of the rest of their tour and are without control to enforce their attendance at Nozstock. We are told we will receive an official cancellation announcement from their management by the end of this week, which we will share with you.
In the same breath, we have to say a massive thank you to De La Soul for agreeing to take to the Orchard Stage in their place. We’re really excited to have them here and to have them step up on such short notice.
For over 20 years they have rocked us with their De La songs full of inscrutable samplings, whimsically irreverent lyrics, social commentary, light rhythm and laid back rhymes. They have gained respect within and outside the hip-hop community with their contributions to rap, as well as jazz, funk, soul and alternative genres. Not only are their musical innovations acclaimed and respected worldwide, but they paved a path for many alternative rap groups to come after them.

As per our terms & conditions, tickets are non-refundable as the festival is sold as a whole experience. Please check here for the full ticket terms & conditions. Please do not contact our office or ticket team to request a refund as we will be unable to oblige. We understand that this will be frustrating for some of you but we hope the new bookings will go some way to compensating.
As you know Nozstock is a homegrown, grassroots festival full of colour and wonder. The programme is crammed full with hundreds of the most astounding, incredible and inspiring artists on this planet. The site is looking mind-blowingly intergalactic and downright super-spacey. We also have so many other exciting performances happening over the weekend, we know we’re going to take your brain to another dimension.
It’s time to buckle up and step aboard the Starship Noz, have an exhilarating time with new and old friends, live in the moment and look forward to having one of the best weekends of your life!  As ever, more than anything, Noz is about it’s heart… and at the centre of ours is YOU, our crazy, beautiful and amazing punters.
Thanks for your undying support and your understanding with this change in the programming so late in the day.
Phasers set to fun, astronauts!

WHAT ABOUT THE FANS?

If you have attended a festival in the UK or internationally this season, AIF want to hear from you.

There will be a panel at the Festival Congress in Cardiff on 18 October, for which we need contribution from festival attendees.
To apply to participate in the panel discussion and win a free conference and after party ticket to The Festival Congress, fill out this FORM.

This audience focused panel will explore: What makes the best experience of a festival, both in the UK and overseas? Are fans loyal to one festival? How important is the music line-up now? How important are additional activities and immersive elements? Has technology changed the way that people interact with festivals? What are the key issues fans face? What makes a dream festival scenario? What do you love and hate about festivals? What changes and improvements would you like to see from organisers?

The Festival Congress is a two-day conference and celebration taking place in Cardiff (17 – 18 Oct), featuring top festival/music industry speakers Rob da Bank (Bestival), Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1), Jude Kelly (Southbank Centre), Martin Elbourne (Glastonbury Festival) and many more. Bumper comedy line up headed by Cardinal Burns…

We’re over the funny moon to announce our brilliant comedy and theatrics lineup as whilst we’re all about the music, we’ve got plentiful goodness for your creative heart (and funny bone too…)

Absolute legends and multi award-winning duo Cardinal Burns will be gracing us with their character comedy sketches, which have impressed both on the telebox (E4/Channel 4) and at sell out live shows across the world festival scene. Absolutely hilarious chaps who you just HAVE to see live!

Chortle’s ‘Best Newcomer’ winner, Pat Cahill, is bringing his comedic stylings to the farm with off-beat jokes and songs about dying pets and ‘choice fatigue’, Cahill’s unpretentiously surreal and absurd outlook firmly plants him in the ‘one to watch’ category. You’ve been warned!

Cardinal Burns, Pat Cahill, Tom Rosenthal, Brian Gittins and Brett Goldstein all at Noz!

8 out of 10 Cats star Tom Rosenthal has contagious energy busting at the seams, Brian Gittins and Brett Goldstein, both seen on Ricky Gervais’ latest TV outing Derek; the eclectic Rob Carter; and newcomers Tom Davis and Matt Rees will all also be joining us on the farm as well.

Plus a whole plethora of burlesque has been booked for the Velveteen Valley, the Fetch return to the Bantam of the Opera Theatre, kids get totally spoilt in our Kids Area, AV lovers get a treat for ears and eyes in the Wrong Directions Cinetent curated by Mash Cinema and interactive theatre and games all over the site will be getting you ‘joining our tribe’, getting on the hunt and leading a Sunday procession in our Jurassic Wonderland.

And don’t forget we want attendees this year to be part of a Marc Bolan flash mob world record attempt on Saturday (gongs optional) with their vocal chords intact. “Get it oooooonnnn…

Yabba dabba do it Nozzers, snap your tickets up and join the party, eh!?
