The Nozstock Cinema accepts fictional, documentary and experimental features, short films, music videos and children’s films. These will be screened as part of Nozstock The Hidden Valley over the weekend of 22 – 24 July 2016. Contributors to Nozstock’s homegrown shorts programme range from professional film-makers to first attempt amateurs, the only specific criteria for qualification being that films are based around a strong original concept.
Nozstock will consider family-friendly feature films for daytime screenings; otherwise a maximum running time of 30 minutes per film is specified. We are hoping to put together a short film reel full of original and high-quality submissions, showcasing what current independent film-making has to offer.
2016’s theme is ‘Wonders of the Ancient World’ – Egyptian, Han Chinese, Mayan and the rest – but there is no need for your film to be related to the festival’s theme, so let the creative sparks fly.
This is not a competitive festival, however your work stands to be seen by 5000 visitors alongside industry-leading visual artists and film-makers. There is no submission fee. Films are non-returnable.
The final deadline is Friday 6 May 2016.
Please either upload your film as part of the form below, send it electronically to: firstname.lastname@example.org
or via snail mail to: Nozstock Cinema, Rowden Paddocks, Bromyard, Herefordshire, HR7 4LS
Please submit your films PAL format as HD .MOV or .AVI files.
Submissions should include a brief synopsis, a submission form, 2 production stills and relevant information and contacts regarding the filmmaker/s.
All shipping and postage costs to and from the festival must be borne by the submitting party, including those for the submission package and, if the film is selected, for all prints, tapes and additional materials sent to and returned from Nozstock. Nozstock will not accept Cash On Delivery shipments and will not absorb any fees incurred in British customs. All charges must be pre-paid. Nozstock will not accept submissions if customs and delivery fees have not been paid by the Submitting Party. Submission packages from outside the UK must be labelled ‘Trade Sample’ on any customs label and, for customs purpose, must be given a value of no more than UK£10.
Selection of Films
Submissions are reviewed and selected under the following criteria:
– Quality of narrative and production values
– Independent nature of the production
– Limitations and availability of screening slots
– Availability of film rights for distribution
Nozstock endeavours to complete all selection procedures by Monday 13 June 2016 and inform all Submitting Parties, via email, if their film has been successful or not at that time. Successful submissions will receive correspondence that their film has been selected.
