Nozstock up for The Greener Festival Award 2016

Great news Nozzers! We has been nominated with just 5 other festivals to win The Greener Festival Award 2016.  The award is to celebrate festivals in the UK who are striving to minimise their environmental impact. All shortlisted events are judged by A Greener Festival – a not for profit organisation who have assesed over 350 festivals since 2007. We are thrilled that our efforts to make Nozstock as clean and green as we can have been recognised. Big thanks to our Queen of Green Kathy Tate and our Clean Campsite Crew for all their efforts. Final winners are announced at the UK Festival Awards on 28th November. Good luck to all the other nominees!

Time to give yourself a big ol’ slap on the back Nozzers. We are mega chuffed to say that thanks to your support we have raised more for charity in 2016 than ever before!

Those of you who got relaxed and replenished with a massage from Yeleni Healing Centre raised a massive £2564. This money will go towards helping those with cancer and chronic illness.

For all you fine diners at The Chicken Cow Café, your penchant for tasty cuisine has raised £556 for Trees for Cities, our new charity for 2016, who focus on planting trees to create greener cities. Those who got involved with Chicken Shit Bingo also raised £70 for St Michael’s Hospice in memory of our festival friend, Tracey.

Big In The Gambia’s inspiring education talks and funky tunes clearly made an impact on you all as they raised £600, which will help to improve the lives of Gambian mothers and babies.

A big thank you also need to go out to those who got played the Human Fruit Machine, sorted out their thirst with Frank Water or donated camping equipment to People In Motion.

Last but by no means least thank you to Oxfam who come every year and help to look after you lovely lot. Working with Oxfam at Nozstock pays for 91 midwives or 4200 school books.

Your donations have helped to save lives, offer quality care for patients and create a greener environment. Now go feel smug and we will see you all next year for another blinder…

The nominees for the Association of Independent Festival’s third Festival Congress have been announced and Nozstock is up for two awards.

The Act of Independence award highlights a moment in the festival season that embodied the spirit of independence and for General Public’s Hip Hop Pickers Ball it’s ‘Straight Outta Bromyard’ to the nominee list.

We are also super excited that our Clean Campsite Crew are getting a nod in The Backstage Award nominations which is a brand new award for 2016.

Massive thanks to General Public for such an interesting installation and to Neil and his campsite judges for keeping it tidy! Winners are announced in November…

OLD J’s FANTASTIC FOUR GRACE OUR BARS

 OldJ-26

We could easily be accused of being disgracefully focused on a lovely bar experience at Nozstock – from our sweet and keen bar staff, through to our pub prices and homey environs. But nothing tops off that dreamy festival day more than one of our themed cocktails.

Every year, we rifle through the pages of our favourite recipes, hold long-winded but purposeful discussions about the pro’s and con’s of certain mixers and obviously taste-test in our own, perversely dedicated way. This year, we took the trial out of the equation, chancing upon some of the dreamiest rum in the land. Hence a delightful collaboration was born, between Old J Rum in it’s many, carefully blended varieties, and us with our penchant for tasty fruit-pulped, alcoholic beverages.

You’ll find Old J’s cocktails evoking the ‘Wonders of the Ancient World’ across all our bars at Nozstock this year, plus they’ll be giving out some free samples in the Orchard to whet your appetite.

Our first group needs no introduction, The Skints are legendary for their fusion of reggae, ska and hip hop. If the smooth sounds of jazz with an edge of rockabilly are more your flavour, the feisty Imelda May is going to wow you with her truly unique vocals.

To keep your feet moving as we enter the night, we present Jaguar Skills, famous for his stunning mixes of genre crossing sounds and his mysterious absence of identity. Meanwhile, icon of the London club scene, Goldie will be giving us a chance to see why his renowned label Metalheadz has recently earned him an MBE and from the not so far away land of Bristol, is My Nu Leng to mesmerise us with a blistering set and dark, smouldering vibes.
