Art Application

Applications will open 1 October 2021

Submission Rules

Nozstock The Hidden Valley invites proposals for original artworks to be exhibited at the festival. We display interactive artworks, sculptures, craftwork, paintings and photography.  These works are shown as part of Nozstock The Hidden Valley over the weekend of 21-24 July 2022. Items that are most successful during selection take into account the festival environment and are generally weatherproof and made of strong durable materials, large in scale and fitting with the annual theme.

For 2022 we invite you to contribute to our theme:  Parallel Worlds! And we want you to share your iconic suggestions! We are keen that external pieces should be a minimum of 6ft/2mt in height. We’re particularly interested in:

3D sculptures

Installations and audio visual works

Interactive pieces

Creative use of light for art that works by night

Use of natural resources and affordable materials

Don’t forget it doesn’t have to be something made especially for us, if you’ve got any existing work you think fits the brief then we want to see!

There is no submission fee and your work stands to be seen by 5000 visitors.

Works commissioned by Nozstock are owned by the festival and will be required for the festival weekend every year. However, the artist has access to use the work for the rest of the year however they wish, as long as the work suffers no defacement. Works brought and exhibited by artists remain solely under the artist’s ownership.

Submission Deadline

Deadline 30 May 2022. Successful artists will be notified by 10 June 2022. Please remember that commissions will only be granted where the artist has suggested a realistic timeline for creation from the date of notification.

Shipping Costs

All shipping and postage costs of the application to and from the festival must be borne by the submitting party, including those for the submission package and, if the work is selected, for all freight and additional materials sent to and returned from Nozstock. Nozstock will not accept Cash On Delivery shipments and will not absorb any fees incurred in British customs. All charges must be pre-paid. Nozstock will not accept submissions if customs and delivery fees have not been paid by the Submitting Party. Submission packages from outside the UK must be labelled ‘Trade Sample’ on any customs label and, for customs purpose, must be given a value of no more than UK£10.

For delivery and installation of the accepted art works, please detail these needs in your application. Where feasible, Nozstock may be able to offer support for transit, but in most instances the artist will be responsible for drop-off and pick-up of the piece.

Selection of Artwork

Submissions are reviewed and selected under the following criteria:
– Quality of craftsmanship and production values
– Independent nature of the work
– Limitations and availability of exhibition space
– Availability of and access to work
– Value for money

Nozstock endeavours to complete all selection procedures by 10 June 2022 and inform all Submitting Parties, via email, if their proposal has been successful or not at that time. Successful submissions will receive correspondence that their work has been selected.

* Nozstock accepts no liability for damage to or loss of work or other equipment either on display or in transit. It is essential that artists take out their own insurance to cover all risks associated with their participation in the festival.*
