Part of the joy of Nozstock – especially if it’s your first time here – is wandering round the Farm, soaking up vibes and poking your head into all the nooks and crannies to see what you can find. That being said, we know that our dizzying array of expertly programmed bands, DJs and performers could be a little overwhelming at times – so the man behind the madness, Pete Noz, has put together a list of his top ten not-to-be-missed performances for those looking for a little curation. Without further ado, and in no particular order …
- Eva Lazarus
Bringing sunshine to the Orchard Stage (even if it’s raining), veteran Nozstocker the lovely Eva Lazarus will be returning in 2023. With musical influences spanning reggae, d’n’b, jungle, hip-hop and beyond, Eva could bring Lazarus back from the dead with her big voice, big bass and even bigger smile.
- The Allergies
We’ll also be welcoming The Allergies to the Orchard Stage for a live DJ set. Since forming in 2012, these skilled turntablists have made it their mission to bring vintage sounds to the modern dancefloor – so make sure you’ve taken your antihistamines and get yourself down to the Orchard for some good old fashioned, vinyl-only boogie, Latin, funk, hip-hop and beats!
- Jenks
One of our youngest ever acts, Jenks is only 17 but has already made a name for himself in the busy drum ‘n’ bass scene. Having played in cities and festivals across the UK, Jenks is making his Nozstock debut in 2023 – make sure you catch him in the Cubicles so you can say you heard him before he got huge!
- Leeroy Thornhill
As a founding member of The Prodigy, Leeroy has had a legendary impact on the global dance and electronic scene. In 2001 he set out on his own to forge new electronic frontiers, a move which has seen him work with acts like Flint, David Gray and Moby, as well as join forces with DJ Hyper to create band HYPER and with German DJ/Producer Marten Horger to create Smash HiFi. We can’t wait to see what kind of moves he’ll be pulling on the Garden Stage.
- High Fade
If you’re looking for the finest in contemporary funk and disco, look no further than High Fade, who will be performing deep in the crevices of the Cabinet of Lost Secrets. This crew are one of the best new acts to come out of Scotland in recent years, having swiftly risen to the forefront of the UK funk scene after hitting ten million listeners on their inimitable single ‘Sharpen Up’.
- The Wailers
It’s not every day you get to see one of the most legendary reggae acts in music history performing in your back garden. That’s why we’re so excited to have The Wailers gracing the Orchard Stage this year. Bringing a set packed with incredible cuts from Bob Marley’s back catalogue as well as their own classic hits, this is the sort of act we could have only dreamed of hosting when we first started up 25 years ago – come be part of the legacy.
- MY BABY
Now for something a little bit different – if you don’t already know MY BABY, we think you’re going to love this Dutch-Kiwi psychedelic-rock-punk-blues-EDM trio just as much as we do! Since they were founded in 2012 they’ve played countless festivals across the globe, and we’re very excited to have them here on our little Orchard Stage in 2023.
- Mefjus
Mefjus, a.k.a Martin Schober, is widely regarded as a leading new-gen figure in drum ‘n’ bass. From rule-bending remixes to genre-defining albums, Mefjus has received copious awards and collabed with some of the biggest names in the game; he’ll be showing us the ropes in the Cubicles in a set featuring legendary MC Maksim.
- Plump DJs
Plump DJs are internationally renowned DJ/producer duo Andy Gardner and Lee Rous, godfathers of the breakbeat genre. Over the last two decades they’ve racked up thousands of live shows, hundreds of singles and multiple award-winning albums; this year they’re bringing their signature sound to the Elephant’s Grave.
10 The Deep Blue
Finally, over on The Bandstand, we’ve got something truly special brewing. The Deep Blue have been making a splash in Manchester since they began in 2021; with their three-part harmonies and Fleetwood Mac-esque grooves they leave live audiences in a reverie and have quickly garnered support from the likes of The Line of Best Fit, BBC Introducing, BBC 6Music and many more. Come take a listen – you might just fall in love…
