Down on the farm we like to make sure that we give something back to our lovely community and help some great causes at the same time. This year we are supporting some great causes, so, if you need a break from the festival buzz here’s what you can do…
Watch and enjoy the performing artists supported by the Herefordshire community music charity Music Pool on The Bandstand.
The Music Pool’s work benefits a wide range of people of absolutely all ages, abilities and backgrounds; the youth music project Livewire provides workshops, helps to promote gigs and supports training opportunities, courses and recording sessions for young people in the Herefordshire area. Project manager Nicky Jaques has said “Performing at Nozstock provides the opportunity for young people to play to a festival audience and to soak up the sounds of the other bands and artists. They gain exposure to new music which will inspire them to keep developing their own sound and the whole experience gives them a massive confidence boost as young musicians.” Great stuff.
You could come try your luck on our Human Fruit Machine….!
What is this wondrous idea you speak off? The Human Fruit Machine is quite literally what it says on the tin – A. Human. Fruit. Machine. With 50% of the profits going to good causes what’s not to love? It’s part of Nozstock’s charm, we have something refreshingly different to do around every corner.
Sad and lonely old tent? No problem! Unfortunately we all know that tents and camping equipment get left behind at festivals…but fear not – you can donate your unloved camping equipment and tents to People in Motion. Focused on providing support and aid to displaced people your unwanted tents will be packed up and sent to help the refugee crisis in Europe and the Middle East. Woo!
We are also supporting Trees for Cities again this year. They are the only charity who work on an international scale to create greener cities, raising awareness of the importance of tree planting in urban areas. Trees for Cities focus on improving the lives of people living in cities as well as helping to inspire children to grow and eat healthily. Since 1993 they have engaged over 70,000 people to plant over 600,000 trees (that’s an average of 21,428 loo rolls worth per person). These trees were planted in parks, schools, housing estates and streets to revitalise these areas, improving the lives of local people who live there.
As part of our green initiative scheme American Rockers Hayseed Dixie will be helping plant a tree to our ever growing Celebritree Avenue, with help from Trees for Cities. The tree will accompany those planted by The Proclaimers, Molotov Jukebox, Henning When, Mr B. The Gentleman Rhymer and Electric Swing Circus. This gives you the chance to see your favourite artists supporting environmental awareness (and getting their hands dirty).
If you need to unwind after a long day ‘festivalling’ then you can head down to our Healing Zone for a treatment from Yeleni. The lovely Yeleni provide a place of peace for those having to deal with very difficult issues in their life, giving support and offering free therapy to people with chronic illnesses. They’ll be offering massages, hypnotherapy and various workshops to help your physical and emotional health. £10 of the money you pay for your treatment goes towards Yeleni’s charity work. By having a treatment you will help to deliver these therapy sessions to anyone with chronic illness and cancer around Herefordshire.
Each year the amazing Oxfam team provide some of our stewards who help keep you safe and secure on site. The money raised from working with Nozstock goes towards helping people living in poverty around the world; it could buy 52 cows or 381 chickens for farmers, provide shelter and clean water for 32 Syrian refugee families or enable 247 young women to join schools in Ethiopia. Go us!
Three things we value really highly at Nozstock are creating a greener environment to live in, supporting all members of our wonderful community and having as much fun as possible. Getting involved with our charities and supporting causes does all of this so don’t miss out!
