Congratulations to Zura who beat off the competition to be handpicked by none other than T.C to win a set at Into The Valley 2026.
Zura is a Drum and Bass DJ based in the South West UK. Born in Kurdistan, raised in the Netherlands and later spending much of her adult life in London, her diverse background shapes a sound influenced by culture, movement and connection.
Her sound is rooted in an early love for dancehall and reggae, making the move into Jungle and Drum and Bass a natural progression. Mixing only within the last year, Zura has quickly established herself through her high-energy sets inspired by the early foundations. Drawing inspiration from the sound system culture at the heart of the UK rave scene while pushing forward fresh energy.
We caught up with Zura before her set opening Haywire on Friday night…
What inspired you to start DJing?
I’ve always loved the music and sense of community within the scene. It was only after getting my hands on some old vinyl decks that I first started mixing and my love and passion for playing has only grown since.
How would you describe your music?
I’m really inspired by heavy, dark jungle but definitely not confined to one sound. I enjoy switching things up and creating sets that move through different energies.
What makes a DJ stand out?
I think what makes DJ’s stand out most is their love for the music they’re playing and their distinct sound. When you know who it is by just listening.
What gigs or mixes are you proud of?
My Noz mix would definitely be up there with one of my favourite mixes I’ve ever recorded. I really enjoyed putting some of my favourite old school tunes together and showcasing the variety of styles I play.
What’s next for Zura?
I’ve started working on production and will be looking to release some of my own music this year…
