Alter Your State of Mind

Venture into a world filled with the unexpected and unrestricted at Noz this year! The Altered State has been taken over by the some of the most fearless theatre, circus and craft aficionados who are ready to show you everything they’ve got. With games, workshops and impromptu paint fights by day to fire shows, disco tunes and madcap roaming performances by night…you never know what might just alter your state at Nozstock 2018.

There is a method to the madness of The State and for this Noz it has been themed the Department of Cultural affairs. The Department of Cultural Affairs will take the focus for all things theatre, culture and discussion so be prepared for drama, theatrics and, of course, a bit of magic.

Bringing that magical spark to this rebellious land will be the master of theatrical chemistry, Andrew Szydlo. Andrew dabbles in mysterious molecules and electrify elements to teach the whole family a few lessons on the magic of chemistry. If science doesn’t turn your wild world around, Michela Reghellin certainly will with her gravity defying hoop mastery. Get your hips moving with Michela as she teaches you everything you need to know in her hoop dance workshop.

Every post-coup city needs a bit of lovin’ right? You Topia has made sure that this lawless land is no exception to that … with their own unique twist of course. Unleash your inner creature and bust out those ferocious moves at Animal Attraction Speed Dating. Hummadruz will be adding fuel the rebellious fires of the Department of Cultural Affairs with their psychedelic UV show. Lose yourself in their labyrinth of flames and let the citizens of The State show you their revolutionary world.

There’s all this and so much more to discover at The Altered State so make sure you pay us a visit… you might want to go back.

The New Year is upon us and some of you have already been asking how to get involved in the festival, you insatiable beasties, you!

Applications are now open to get involved over the weekend with stewarding, bar work and sales so if you fancy indulging in the delights of The Hidden Valley for absolutely free, nada, nothing, then fill in a form now…

If you’re interested in getting to grips with pre- and post-production, then check out our join the team page for details of longer term roles. Handy with a paintbrush? Whizz with a camera? Got what it takes to schmooze our traders, manage our theatre, or keep the festival running safely?

We have the best crew in the world (if we do say so ourselves) so you’ll be in the brightest, most creative company you could hope for…

To the theatre!

The ancient Greeks were a society pretty into their entertainment. So, we think they’d be pretty chuffed with the simply outrageous line-up of theatrical wonders to behold at the Hidden Valley this year.

The Bantam of the Opera will be host to the weird and the wonderful, the joyous and the jaw-dropping. There is a whole kaleidoscope of entertainment; from the hip-crobatics of Nula Hula, to the vagabond talents of the Threadbare Jugglers. You can experience dialectal debauchery from Monkey Poet, Irrational Behaviour’s recycled travelling machine, psychedelic audio/visual spectacles from Hummadruz and crazy contortion from acro-balancer Matt Horton. Missing your Saturday night bingo? Don’t panic! Backyard Bingo awaits; to fulfil all your bingo-ing needs and more. With belly-dancing, balloon modelling, poetry and even Professor Pumpernickel’s laboratory of lunacy, there is more to see than you could pull out of a magician’s top hat (please note: rabbits are not permitted at Nozstock).

The thrilling theatrics of Noz are not confined to the Bantam of the Opera though my friends, oh no! All the farm’s a stage and you are the beloved audience. There will be walkabout wonders a’plenty for your entertainment, participation and interaction if you should so fancy.
